Blogapalooza is an annual event which brings together bloggers, vloggers, and social media influencers from all over the Philippines in one exciting event. What’s also good about Blogapalooza is that it’s a venue where Filipino content creators of all ages can come together.
Blogapalooza ConnecteD event happened last October 27, 2018 at one of the most grandiose venues in the country, the City of Dreams Manila. This year was the 7th Blogapalooza and it was my first time to attend. On top of all this is one of the founders and the face of Blagapalooza, the young and very likable Ace Gapuz.
Blogging and social media is very dynamic. What works today may no longer work tomorrow so it’s a must that content creators regularly update their knowledge and skills. Blogapalooza is one of the best venues to do this and also comes with a lot of perks. If given a chance again next year to attend, I will surely free up my schedule for Balogapalooza. Here are the reasons why I think every content creator should attend Blogapalooza.
Get #ConnecteD and Reconnect
Everybody is welcome to attend Blogapalooza, there are millennials, Baby Boomers, Gen X, and it’s also LGBTQ friendly. You can think of it as a truly inclusive blogging event. That’s what Generation D stands for, a digital connection transcends age, economic status, and even geographical location. What I also appreciate about Blogapalooza is that they reach out to provincial bloggers in Visayas and Mindanao.
Connect with Bloggers
Through Blogapalooza, we get to connect with other bloggers and content creators in the country. I have been blogging for more than 10 years and through Blogapalooza, I get to reconnect with bloggers I’ve known for years.
Connect with Brands
Blogapalooza also connects bloggers and influencers with businesses who want to amplify their reach through the Buzzin platform. The ConnecteD event can also meet and connect with sponsors and exhibitors during the event. There were some interesting startup companies whose products and services appeal to me as a user and I believe my readers will also be interested in them so I will be featuring these companies in ExperienceNegros.
#ElevateInfluence
Blogapalooza is a where bloggers can learn from each other. As a blogger, you don’t just write but you actually do a lot of things. You edit images and videos, do blog analytics, social media marketing, and even be the model for your blog. You are a one-man-army and master multi-tasker. We need to learn a new set of skills in order to keep up with the changes in the digital world. For most of us who considers blogging as a business, our biggest investment should be in our selves. It is also our responsibility to our readers to continually improve in order for us to deliver the content our readers want.
Content Monetization
I may dabble in YouTube every now and then but Vlogging is something I’m not confident to do. However power YouTubers Jamill, “Pinoy Oppa” Emman Nimedez, and Viy Cortez gave an interesting panel discussion on how to start a vlog and how to successfully monetize them.
Data Analytics
Miko David, founder of David & Goyat Co. gave a talk on the use of data analytics and content planning in blogging. I’ve met Miko in one of his talks sponsored by Globe Telecom in Bacolod and he’s really a guy who can give you a lot of insights on what works in the different digital platforms. Numbers don’t lie and by using data and user metrics, bloggers and marketers can enhance their strategies to be more effective.
Audience Engagement
I am a Gen X-er so I’m glad that Blogapalooza also covered this topic through Erika Padilla, and Nadia Montenegro. Most of today’s digital contents may be geared toward the millennial but eh Gen X/Xennials are still a big market to consider. The Gen X of today are the parents of millennials and Gen Z they are the decision makers when it comes too purchases so they are a viable market to drive sales.
Instagram is something I haven’t quite mastered until this day but after hearing the talk of Nix Eniego, I gained a lot of insights on how to increase my followers.
Another interesting talk was that of Ms. Christine Bersola-Babao about her journey from traditional to digital media. Ms. Tin-Tis is a famous TV personality and even the millennials at the conference are familiar with her character Anatom in Sineskwela. It was truly inspiring how she reinvented herself and she now has a YouTube Channel Christine Babao Chronicles.
Content creation has also level the playing field and even our friends from the LGBTQ community have their own niche. I had so much fun listening to the Queens of Digital Media Rui Mariano, Matmat Centino, and Francine Garcia who started out joining gay beauty pageants but now have a lot of followers in Social Media.
I look forward to participating Blogapalooza 2019 since the digital landscape will no longer be the same by then. We need to unlearn the old and learn new knowledge and skills in order for us to remain relevant.
