The Ubiquity Global Services inaugurated its second site in the Philippines at the Negros First CyberCentre last September 6, 2014 with a capacity of more than 1,000 employees. Ubiquity is the first occupant of the Negros First CyberCentre which is the biggest technology facility in Western Visayas operated by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
“We’ve been very impressed with the professional talent available in Bacolod and in the Province of Negros Occidental,” said Matt Nyren, Ubiquity’s founder and president. Ubiquity will be hiring 500 employees in the next 12 months.
The IT-BPO industry of Bacolod City is estimated to have generated more than 20,000 jobs since the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT) was founded in 2004 through the initiative of Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue. Because of the tremendous growth of the industry, Bacolod City was declared by DOST-ICTO as a “Center of Excellence” for IT-BPM Operations together with Metro Manila, Cebu, and Clark for the Next Wave Cities 2012.
