Two Negrense entrepreneurs, Philip Cruz of Herbanext and Ramon “Chin Chin” Uy, Jr. of Fresh Start Organic & Natural Company, were featured in the GoNegosyo’s “50 Inspiring Stories of Agri-Entrepreneurs” book. They attended the book launching last March 5 which was held at the Manila Polo Club.
Chin Chin and wife Francine started Fresh Start Organics in 2005 producing only organic fertilizer. What started as their demo farm in Silay City has become a major supplier of salad greens in Bacolod City. The couple also buys organic rice and shade grown coffee from small farmers in Negros Occidental.
Herbanext operates the first GMP certified and Halal certified herbal processing plant in Western Visayas and pioneers in the production of herb extracts in the country. The company produces herbal supplements and healthy snacks and beverages under the brand Daily Apple. Most of their raw materials are sourced from small farmers in the province.
Philip and Chin Chin are client of ours and I’m happy that their stories get to reach a wider audience through GoNegosyo’s book. I hope they inspire young entrepreneurs to invest in agriculture and help our small farmers in order to help bring progress to the countryside.
Congratulations Sir Philip and Chin Chin!
