Everything is set for the staging of the 29th MassKara Festival which is also the 70th Charter Day of Bacolod City. With the theme “Bacolod City, Around the World”, the 29th Masskara Festival will be declared officially open by no less than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on October 1, 2008 at the New Government Center. This will be the first in the 29 years history of the MassKara Festival that the country’s president will grace the opening ceremonies.
All activities prior to the big day are already in full gear. Kiosks around the plaza are already being set up in preparation for the October 1 opening. Festival site in SM City area is likewise being prepared for the occasion.
Other events to look forward to are street dancing competition on October16, 17 and 18; the Electric MassKara along Lacson Street on October 17-19, Search for MassKara Queen and the countdown on October 18 which will be simultaneously held at Araneta and Lacson streets.
