What’s New at the SM Store Bacolod?
The new three-level SM Store Bacolod surpassed everybody’s expectations when it opened on April 2013. What everybody was expecting was the generic SM department store design but what greeted the shoppers was a modern and hip SM Store that exudes an aura (pun intended) of fun.
A lot of shoppers would agree with me that the new SM Store’s interior is very chic with its bold colors and elegant design. The combination of the sunburst ceiling, semi-circle atriums and louvers create a sophisticated environment that sits well with the Negrenses’ discriminating taste.
Bigger Shopping Area
The 23,800 square meters SM Store provides a bigger shopping area and a wider selection of items and brands for the local shoppers.
The SM Store’s First Level showcases the latest trends in clothes and accessories for men and teenage boys. The Gadgets, Stationery and Kultura Filipino sections are in the same level. The Second Level is for shoes, bags and clothes for ladies and teenage girls. The Third Level is where you can find the clothes and toys for kids and infants as well as home items.
One-Stop Customer Service
SM Store Bacolod shoppers will be delighted to know that there’s only one place to go for bills payment, foreign currency exchange, gift registry, alterations and package counter. They now accept alterations of gowns and dresses in addition to lengths of pants. The customer service is located at the First Level.
SM Prestige Lounge
SM Prestige Card holders would be delighted to know that the SM Store that they can now enjoy the perks of being a Prestige Cardholder at the SM Prestige Lounge at the Third Level of the SM Store.
The 180-square meter Prestige Lounge is available only to Prestige Cardholders where they can have a place to relax from their shopping. The Prestige Lounge has spacious and comfortable sitting areas and comfortable seats. The powder cum fitting rooms for men, women and PWDs are clean and with unlimited supply of tissue paper.
Prestige members can invite two guests for free choices of cappuccino, café latte, tea or water. There’s a flat screen TV to keep them entertained and they can also choose from several magazines and newspapers.
To be a Prestige Card holder, an SM Advantage Card (SMAC) holder must reach an accumulated purchase of P300,000 within two years. The membership is automatically converted once the required purchase has been reached. This can be maintained with an accumulated purchase of P150,000 in the next two years.
So just how shopaholics are the Negrenses? As of this writing there are already 6,129 Prestige Card holders in Bacolod City. You do the math. That’s how much Negrenses spend shopping at SM Store. No wonder SM is in expansion mode.
Prestige Lounge is also available in other premier shopping destinations such as SM Makati, SM Cubao, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM North Edsa, SM Southmall, SM Pampanga, and SM Iloilo.

It’s nice but these malls are popping up everywhere, it doesn’t seem like much is new to me.

Though they’re not the type of business we want to see more of, they mean more local jobs. And as long as they’re not built on heritage sites, I don’t mind.

Well it will look generic in a few months because it seems like the design is now the template of some SM Stores like Aura and Mall of Asia.

I heard they’ll soon make SM Bacolod a “premier” SM. So at least brands which are available only in Manila will now be available in Bacolod.
