Now on its 20th year, the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2013 is scheduled on April 8-14, 2013 and will focus on Organic Agriculture with the theme “Panaad @20: Celebrating Negros as the Philippines’ Leader in Organic Agriculture”.
Every summer is always the best time to visit Negros Occidental for the Panaad Festival where the 19 towns and 13 cities of the province showcase its history, culture, trade, agriculture, tourism and other industries in their respective booths at the Panaad Park and Stadium.
The one week celebration of the Panaad Festival will make a visitor experience the food, festival and pageantry of Negros Occidental.
The opening will feature the Festival Dance Competition wherein the champion of the best festival of each town and city will be competing against each other.
Panaad is also a good time to buy souvenir items since every town and city will be selling their best products. Prepare your stomach for a gastronomic delight as local delicacies such as Puto Manapla, napoleones of Bacolod, diwal from Valladolid and more can be bought in one location.
And one of the most awaited part of the Festival is the Lin-ay Sang Negros pageant. It can be considered as one of the biggest pageants in the country in terms of prizes and glamor.
Don’t miss the fun this summer, come to the Panaad Festival and discover the best of Negros Occidental!

Dear Glady, just want to thank you for your advise that we spend one day (April 8) at the Panaad sa Negros and proceed to Mambukal for an overnight stay (we did go in the morning of April 9). Since my family came in by land from Dumaguete that day, we focused on the 4pm Opening ceremonies to make sure we would be there at the grandstand for the Festivals competition. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the program starting late while the recognition of founders (coupled with the presentation of 20 beauties) took nearly 2 hours. Maybe, because it’s an election year since many of the awardees and attendees were politicians and had to be introduced individually and say their speeches. Well, we decided to be contented taking photos of the different groups in their costumes while they were on the sidelines and failed to watch them in action because we had to leave Panaad before 7pm to beat the traffic and catch an 8pm dinner appointment at 6th St.
Anyway, we enjoyed Mambukal and made a side trip to the Ruins and the Silay heritage houses before proceeding to the airport. Overall, we enjoyed our Bacolod trip and hope we can come back again next year when it is not an election year. Perhaps, there will be more time alloted for the Festivals competition which the tourists are more interested in rather than the introductions…ha ha ha.
Godspeed to your blogging, Glady and thanks to you too.
Richard

Hehehe You’re right, that’s because it’s election time so politicians are taking advantage of the visitors at the Panaad festival. I’m glad you enjoyed Mambukal.
