Patag in Silay City is a famous tourist destination in Negros Occidental because the village is located in the mountainous area of Silay City where the climate is cooler, with several waterfalls, and where springs abound. Patag is located in Mount Silay inside the North Negros Natural Park which is a protected area. This is why most of the forest cover are still intact and you can see towering trees which are probably century-old even along the roadside. Visiting Patag will take you closer to nature and the good thing is, it’s very accessible from the urban centers of Silay City and Bacolod City.
Ilaya Highland Resort is the newest addition to the growing number of resorts in Patag. Most of the existing Patag resorts have simple facilities thus the Balinese-inspired architectural details of Ilaya and its beautifully landscaped garden really stands out.

Ilaya is located in such a perfect spot where you have a scenic view of the mountains, lowland of Silay and you can even see Panay Island in the horizon. Just sitting at the side of the infinity pool, inhaling the fresh air, and just enjoying the view can already be very relaxing.
Rates, Facilities & Accommodations
Entrance fee is P200 which comes with a free brewed coffee or iced tea. The fee is expensive if you compare it with the local resorts which only charge P20 entrance fee. But if you prefer to spend your time in a resort with modern amenities, exclusivity (limited number of guests), the fee is worth it.
There is the infinity pool which gives you a scenic view of the mountains so you can either swim or just lounge and relax by the poolside. Swimming fee is P100.
Guests are not allowed to bring outside food because Ilaya has a restaurant which serves food and drinks at a reasonable price.

What I Like
- I really appreciate the Ilaya provides employment opportunities for the locals because they only hire Patag residents.
- The staff at the entrance and restaurant are very friendly and accommodating. They would assist you in carrying your things and provide an umbrella when it rains.
- There’s a golf cart for the elderly so they can easily go around the place.
- The facilities are clean and well maintained which can be expected from a new resort but I hope they can keep it up.
- They limit the number of people in the resort. For me this is a good thing because you cannot enjoy the place when it’s too crowded.
What I Don’t Like
- They lifeguard will not allow you to step into the side of the pool for picture taking if you did not pay for the P100 swimming fee. I understand that they might not want the poolside to get dirty but we can always take off our shoes and wash our feet.
How to get to Ilaya Highland Resort
Patag is very accessible both from Silay City proper and Bacolod City.
From Bacolod City to Ilaya
- If you have your own vehicle, Patag is around 45 minutes from Bacolod City. You can use Waze or Google map to guide you. You use the Lantawan road that’s beside the Bacolod-Silay Airport. Road quality is very good and you can have a quick stop for coffee or snacks at the Duyan Cafe.
- If you are commuting, ride a bus from the Ceres North Terminal going to Silay City. If you prefer the jeepney, take a ride at the Bacolod North Terminal just across the Ceres Terminal. Tell the bus conductor (or jeepney driver) to drop you off at the Patag/Capitan Ramon Terminal beside the Prince Hypermarket. Ask the driver of the Patag jeepney to take you to Ilaya Highland Resort. Travel time is around one and a half hour and total fare: P60 – P70 one-way
Things to Remember
