“When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about. And that was the beginnin of fairies.”
It was my daughter’s first birthday last September so just like any parents, we wanted to give her the best birthday party that we can afford. We hoped that when she looks at her pictures someday, she would know how much fun her party was.
Should I Get an Event Organizer or DIY?
Gone are the days when birthday parties were celebrated with spaghetti, cakes and ice cream when you have money to spend and with linugaw (ginata-an) on poorer days. There is now such a thing called a themed party.
Gabby is still too young to remember her party but I don’t want her to miss this milestone in her life. So, a themed party it is! I choose a Tinker Bell themed party because I love the feisty fairy character. Besides, I think Gabby wouldn’t cringe if someday she sees a picture of herself wearing a Tinker Bell costume than say, a Minion.
First things first, I’m not good in organizing events so I need a little help from an reliable event organizer in Bacolod. When it comes to event organizing, nobody comes to mind other than my friend Dolly of InTouch Events Network. InTouch is one of the trusted organizer of weddings , corporate events and other special events in Bacolod. She’s in the middle of organizing a big event for Tay Tung but I’m glad she agreed to help me out with Gabby’s party.
Birthday Venues in Bacolod
We don’t want the usual hotel venues since we don’t expect a lot of guests. Dolly suggested Little Miss Cupcake Cafe and the moment I walked in, I immediately thought this is the right place for Gabby’s birthday party. The pink and white color scheme is perfect for a little girl’s birthday party. It makes you think of happy childhood memories, of the little girls’ tea party you played as a kid.
We just don’t want a perfect venue for our girl’s birthday but good food too, right? I let Dolly choose from the menu since she’s a regular customer. Evelyn, the owner, made some suggestions which were really helpful. There are things that only Moms understand and budget is on top of the list and I’m glad Evelyn is the type of business owner with genuine concern for her clients.
Finally, we settled with Little Miss Cupcake Cafe’s best sellers – for the adults we will have Baby Back Ribs, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Lasagna, Mixed Vegetables and Black Bottom cupcakes. For the kiddos we ordered Spaghetti (of course), Hotdogs, Chicken Fingers and lots of candies and chocolates.
Gabby’s Big Day
Gabby’s birthday reminded me of our wedding day. I was nervous and excited at the same time. The weather was not so good so some kids will not make it and some of Gabby’s Ninangs begged off for other previous commitments. I hoped it will be the only glitch we will experience.
Gabby came in a little late for her party (blame her parents), but I don’t think her guests really mind since the kiddos were still busy with their coloring activities. They also had the clown to entertain them and they were totally engrossed with the magic tricks. Gabby even watched the entire performance with awe in her eyes. It was all a new experience for her.
When it was time to eat, I was even more nervous than on my wedding day. Would the guests love the food? I couldn’t eat, not until I see everybody has eaten. I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw everyone has had their fill. The guests love the food particularly the Chicken Cordon Bleu, Baby Back Ribs and of course, the Black Bottom Cupcake. The spaghetti passed the kids’ discriminating taste too. The food was simply delicious, to say the least.
Final Thoughts
Little Miss Cupcake Café already had a nice interior but with Dolly’s team, it was turned into a charming place for my little girl’s birthday. It was simply a fliterrific party!
I was beyond delighted with the personal touch extended by Evelyn, her family and staff. I feel that they were equally excited and concerned to make Gabby’s birthday party truly memorable. I really appreciated it.
To our family, friends, colleagues, kumares and kumpares, thank you for being part of Gabby’s birthday. Your presence and thoughtfulness were greatly appreciated.
To the little girl who means the world to us, Nanay and Tatay loves you so much. We hope you’re going to grow up to be kind, sensitive, and loving person. We promise to be the best parents we can be and we will always be here for you to love and support you.
Let me finish this blog post with a really nice quote from our beloved fairy Tinker Bell, lest we forget that there will always be a child in us.
“Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age, Dreams are forever”
