This will be my first Mother’s Day and while I feel contented with what I have, a thoughtful gift would be greatly appreciated. I know every mother would appreciate a surprise gift too.
I wish I have more time to go to the malls to look for gifts but with my baby, it’s becoming a luxury, so online shops become my go-to sites for shopping. Online retail shops are really a big help because they are convenient and sometimes offer much lower prices than the malls. I bought a lot of baby stuff from feeding bottles, onesies and toys online and I really appreciated how it makes shopping easier.
Lazada is my current favorite site since they offer a variety of products and usually has promos and discounts. Lazada is relatively a new e-commerce site in the Philippines but its already making waves to online shoppers.
The company offers Free Delivery for orders P1,000 and above, Zero Interest with Banco de Oro credit card, Cash on Delivery Option, and 7 days Return option. As the saying goes, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating”, so I bought from Lazada first so I can share with you my experience.
My first purchase from Lazada was a Philips Avent Toddler Mealtime Set which was was on sale when I bought it. This retails around P1,500 at local malls and I purchased it at P1,280. I didn’t pay for shipping since the order was above one thousand. It was Friday when I ordered it and the item arrived on Monday.
If you’re new to online shopping, I have a few tips for you.
- Check for the site’s reputation. Again, you can ask for reviews from forums and social networking sites.
- Canvass for prices. There are a lot other e-commerce sites to compare a product’s price and you can also ask in forums and social networking sites.
- Make use of free shipping. Online shops usually offer free shipping for a certain amount you buy or make use of combined shipping so you can save on shipping cost.
- Manage your expectations. Sometimes a product may not look as good as in pictures so it is best not to expect too much especially if you’re buying used items. To be sure, buy at online malls selling brand new items only.
My Mother’s Day Wish List
Below is my wish list, just in case somebody thought of giving me a gift. But then, a greeting would also be highly appreciated. 😀
Cherry Mobile Thunder – I’m trading my old Blackberry with a budget-friendly Cherry mobile Thunder. Who needs a P15,000+ high end phone when you get almost the same features from a phone less than P5,000? I only need a dual sim Andoid phone that can be turned into a Wifi hotspot. All this I can get from a Cherry Mobile Thunder and so much more. Cherry Mobile Thunder is sold exclusively by Lazada, although I saw one shop in Bacolod selling this, the price at Lazada is P500 less.
Samsung WB250F – I really don’t need a high end camera for images that I will use in my blogs. Just a compact camera that can give me better pictures than a tablet camera does especially in low light surroundings. Samsung WB250F is a really slim camera that also has Wifi connectivity. Just the perfect companion to a mom blogger.
Samsung ATIV Smart PC – This is a touch screen tablet PC with a detachable keyboard. You can take it anywhere yet it’s powerful enough for most office operations. I already have an iPad mini so why do I need an ultra-portable laptop? This will replace my laptop/desktop at home. I’m using a laptop attached to an ordinary monitor. It’s what I call disponer – my laptop’s LCD won’t work and my desktop’s videocard also won’t work. So what’s a blogger to do in order to continue blogging? Connect the two parts that still work! MacGyver would be proud of me.
As a mother, my first priority is my baby and her needs, so when I buy gadgets I make sure it will give me an opportunity to earn extra income. The gadgets I buy are usually used for blogging and other sidelines I have. I’m sure this is also true to other mom bloggers.
So, what are you getting your mom this Mother’s Day? For gift ideas, you can visit Lazada’s Mother’s Day page. There’s a gift for a mom who’s into clothes, shoes, jewelry, bags, watches, perfumes, cooking and of course, gadgets. Go get something for the most important woman in your life.
