It was not without glitches but through the cooperation of everybody, we were able to pull off Blogging:Unmasked last October 14 at SM City Bacolod Training Room. It was Negrense travel blogger Eric Dee who floated the idea of a blogging talk to the Negros Bloggers Club core group almost three months ago. Since Fitz Villafuerte will also be in Bacolod for the MassKara Festival, might as well make him one of the speakers. It was an opportunity that is hard to miss.
Eric has been around the country covering different festivals and tourist destinations in his blog Byahilo. Fitz Villafuerte on the other hand is a personal finance blogger who talks about business and investing at his blog, Ready to be Rich. I’ve met Eric several times already since we are also both members of the Bacolod main thread of the Skyscrapercity.com. I have only met Fitz in person last year during the MassKara festival through Eric. However, I have been following his blog for quite a while.
Eric shared a lot of insights in travel blogging and also gave some photography tips. His experiences were also a source of inspiration and bloggers can glean some lessons in his travel bloopers. Fitz was very generous in sharing ways on making money online and what strategies to use. He gave actual blogs as example and pointed out the blogger’s best practices.
It was not only blogging that we get to unmask, but also the people behind the blogs. It’s always nice to refer to bloggers in their first names and not to their domain names. As what one blogger said, blogging is also about building relationships, not just making money.
The attendees were a very diverse mix of seasoned and newbie bloggers. There were fulltime and part-time bloggers who blog on travel, business, SEO, technology, and personal topics. There were a few who still do not have a blog but through the blogging talk, we hope they were inspired to start their own. We may blog for different reasons but at the end of the day, it all boils down to blogging for your passion and blogging passionately.
We hope this will not be the last blogging event that Negros Bloggers Club will get to organize and we look forward to meeting more bloggers from Bacolod and Negros.
Our gratitude to our sponsors, SM City Bacolod, Party Solution, Negros Daily Bulletin, and Havaianas. May your tribe increase!
