The Bacolaodiat Festival 2011 will be celebrated on February 3-6, 2011 with the theme Hopping Towards Prosperity. Every year, where ever there are Chinese communities, the Chinese New Year is celebrated with a big bang and Bacolod City is no exception.
This year’s celebration of the Chinese New Year will be the 6th Bacolaodiat Festival. Every year gets more exciting as more events are added. There will be cultural performances, lantern dance parade, dragon dance, Chinese food stalls, fireworks display, giant zodiac animals, and live bands.
The Bacolaodiat celebration is no longer confined at the Capitol Shopping Center which is considered the Chinatown of Bacolod City. Celebrations will also be held along Lacson Street and the North Capitol Road which will be the Chopsticks Alley where the Chinese food stalls were located.
Bacolaodiat was coined from Bacolod and Lao Diat, Fookien word for celebration, and the different ways of how Filipino and Chinese cultures celebrate will be showcased on February 3-6, the Bacolaodiat Festival 2011 schedule.
