All systems go for the biggest billiards event in the City of Bacolod, the the fifth leg of the First Senate president Manny Villar Cup dubbed Bacolod International Villards Festival. The event will be held on November 12-16 at the Garden Royale Function Hall, Goldenfields Commercial Complex.
Billiard enthusistas will have a field day as Pinoy and international billiard players are expected to compete for the prestigious tournament. Lined up for the event are Efren “Bata” Reyes, Francisco Bustamante, Alex Pagulayan, Dennis Orcollo, Roberto Gomez, Ronnie Alcano, Gandy Valle, Carlo Biado, Warren Kiamco, Lee Vann Corteza, Wu Chia Ching, Chang Jung Lin, Wang Hung Hsiang, Fu Juan Bo, Marcus Chamat, Ricky Zerna (the pride of Mabinay) and our very own veteran internationalist, Ramil Gallego.
A total of $37,000 in prize money awaits the top finishers of the event with $15,000 going to the champion; $5,000 to the second placer; $2,500 to the 3rd and 4th placers; $1,000 to the 5th to 8th placers; $500 to the 9th to 16th placers; and $300 to the 17th to 32nd placers. National Amateur Players from all over the Philippines will also be vying for the cup prize of Php 250,000.00.
Nightly concerts and street parties will simultaneously be held during the duration of the 5-day tournament which will kick off with a motorcade along the city’s major streets on November 12.
The Philippines has some of the greates billiard players in the world. In fact, billiards is already a favorite past time among the youths and there are those who are just waiting for the right moment to be discovered. With the staging of the event, the organizers are hoping to produce more Pinoy billiards champion.
