Top booking site Agoda.com released its list of Top 10 Eco-Friendly Hotels from its international network of hotels and Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental made the cut – the only hotel from the Philippines.
This is another feather in the cap of Nature’s Village Resort since it was also in the Top 10 ASEAN Green Hotel Recognition Awards 2010. The hotel-resort has developed a culture of sustainable tourism among its personnel which is evident in several practices such as the following:
- The staff are trained how to care for the environment and be an example to the guests
- The resort adheres to the Solid Waste Management Program of Talisay City
- An organic farm was set-up to make use of biodegradable wastes of the resort and the produce are also served to the guests
- Noise pollution control programs are in place to secure guests’ relaxation
“Hotels that once considered ‘eco-friendly’ to mean a small environmental footprint and conservation of resources are now taking things a step further, cleaning up trash, investing in best-practices, actually improving the sustainability of the communities that surround them,” said Robert Rosenstein, CEO of Agoda.com as quoted in WhenInManila.com.
On a personal note, we chose Nature’s Village for our wedding’s reception dinner last year because of its homey and rustic ambiance. The hotel-resort also has a beautiful view of Mt. Marapara and vast sugarcane plantation. You can watch our wedding video here.
