The long wait is over for the applicants to the 2021 DOST-SEI S&T Undergraduate Scholarships as the Department of Science and Technology – Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) announces today the names of 8,067 qualifiers to the scholarship program.
The DOST-SEI did not conduct the national scholarship qualifying examination in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Institute employed data analytics and proxy indicators in place of the exam to identify qualifiers. Documentary requirements were collected through the agency’s E-Scholarship Application System beginning June 2020. These documents, including the students’ grades in Grades 9-11, which were obtained and verified from their respective schools, were evaluated.
Of this year’s qualifiers, 3,815 qualified under the RA 7687 program—scholarships for gifted students who belong to economically disadvantaged families; while 4,252 qualified under the Merit program. They will receive notice of award sometime in September courtesy of DOST-SEI or the concerned DOST Regional Offices.
There are 2,042 names in the list marked with one asterisk implying some lacking documents; while some names were withheld pending completion and evaluation of requirements. DOST-SEI will notify them to complete their requirements.

We wish to highlight that each application was meticulously validated, and the collection of grades took some time; thus, it took us several months before we could finally release the results,” said DOST-SEI Director, Dr. Josette T. Biyo.
“These senior high school graduates have shown tremendous resiliency and dedication by continuing their education despite the challenges of the new way of learning. I believe that we are able to identify deserving students to our scholarship programs. We are happy to welcome them to the S&T community and to support them in their next chapter in the higher education level,” Dr. Biyo added.
DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña said that the DOST scholarship programs will provide the awardees access to quality education in the higher educational institutions, which will help boost the number of our scientists and engineers needed to drive economic productivity and knowledge creation in the country.
“As it is vital that the country has the scientific talents it needs to maintain its global competitiveness and economic development, we look at scholarships as one solid way to help ensure that we are meeting the S&T human resource requirements in our country. With the increasing number of scholarship applicants and slots every year, we are hopeful that we will fill the gaps in the labor market and drive innovation across all sectors,” said Secretary de la Peña.
The qualifiers and their parents/legal guardian must attend the Orientation on the Scholarship Policies prior to signing the Scholarship Agreement. DOST-SEI said it will happen sometime in September or October 2021. Those with lacking requirements must submit the needed documents on or before September 30, 2021.
DOST Scholarship Privileges
Qualifiers who will avail of the program will enjoy full benefits of the scholarship for the whole duration of their S&T program. These include monthly stipend of ₱7,000; a tuition fee subsidy of up to ₱40,000 per academic year for those who will enroll in private institutions; annual book allowance; one-time MS/PE clothing allowance; one economy-class roundtrip fare per year for those studying outside their home province; group health and accident insurance, and thesis allowance. The scholarship award takes effect in the First Semester of Academic Year 2021-2022.
Priority Courses Under DOST Scholarship
To avail the scholarship award, qualifiers must enroll in a priority S&T course in state universities and colleges, or in private higher education institutions recognized by the Commission on Higher Education as Centers of Excellence or Centers of Development or with Level III accreditation from the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines.

Responsibilities of DOST Scholars
DOST-SEI scholars are required to render service in the country preferably along their fields of specialization after graduation for a period equivalent to the number of years they enjoyed the scholarship as a return service. The scholar-graduates may choose to work in the government or in the private sector.

Yes ma’am different po but the same exam lang kinukuha, Dapat lang po mamailli kayo if OWWA or DOST. If Architecture po kukunin nya, hindi po kasama sa priority courses ng DOST but baka pwede sa OWWA.

gud day po,, nakapasa po ang anak ko as merit, puwede po ba siyang mag enrol sa school na hindi priority sa mga merit, isang school lang kasi ang priority school dito sa region 10 at parang hindi namin kakayanin dahil private school yon at maliit lang po ang alloted para tuition.

Congratulations! Nope, kuha po dapat ng entrance sa university. If hindi ka nakakuha ng UPCAT at available naman sa ibang university yung course na gusto mo, kuha ka na lang ng entrance exam nila.

Nakapasa kapatid ko naghahanap ako ng maayos n list ng requirements na kelangan asikasohin mas malinaw sa nakalagay sa headings ng result. May paliwanag sana kung san makukuha at kung ano ano dapat paghandaan sa pagkuha ng bawat requirements.

As mentioned, your respective DOST regional office will get in touch with the qualifier for the schedule and venue of the orientation or you may also call the regional/provincial office where you submitted the application. The qualifier and parent/guardian MUST attend the orientation because everything you need to know about the scholarship will be discussed here. If you have questions or need clarifications, the orientation is the proper venue to ask them.
What’s listed in the heading of the result is all you need to bring and at the orientation and contract signing. The usual things to prepare are valid ID of the qualifier (school ID and library ID will do), ID pictures of the qualifier (1×1 for opening of bank account), 2018 Community Tax Certificate (cedula) of the parent/guardian, Passport or any valid ID of the parent/guardian. Yan lang po talaga sir and mga requirements na dadalhin. Kung halimbawa wala na pong parents yung qualifier, dapat may notarized na affidavit of guardianship yung guardian. Maaring kumuha po nito sa mga abugado na nag nonotaryo.
Remember also that qualifying for the DOST scholarship is not assurance for admission to the specific school the student want to enroll in. They should seek their admission to the school on their own. Pwede po ang scholars natin mag enroll sa UP system, any State College or University, at private schools na CHED recognized na center of excellence sa specific course na pipiliin ng scholar. Since may mga bagong courses ngayon na idinagdag, may updates din sa list of private schools kaya po dapat mag attend ng orientation.

Kung private university naman, most top university ay may priority course naman na pwede syang mag enroll like sa DLSU, UST, Ateneo.
