The old Bacolod Airport runway still has a good use after all. For three days, October 10-12, 2008, it was packed with a large crowd of drag racing enthusiasts for the PALumba sa MssKara 2008 which is the First National Drag Race.
Racers from Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Bacolod City joined in the competition which is hoped to help eliminate illegal drag racing in the streets and give racers a chance to show their skills in the proper venue.
The large turnout of people is an indication that the event was a success and hopefully will be continued in the coming years.

Yes, i agree with Archlim. It would be nice if we can use the venue every weekend for a fun drug race instead of doing it on the steets. I would be glad to pay a certain fee to use it and i’m sure that those who like speed wouldn’t mind paying too.

I would love to see the place converted to a world class race circuit someday..one where you can race anything from go karts, bikes, touring cars, or even formula series. I hope someone realizes this and makes a move. In the hands of visionaries, This would be good for tourism and for developing future drivers as well.

Thanks for dropping by Facundo. I have the same observation. The scene of spectators near the drag racing strip remind me of sports accident on TV. Hopefully the organizers can address that next time.

Yeah.., the old airport has a good use at all, but its not good to see people along the drag strip during the race. Accident happens… I hope the organizers can do something about it next time. Lets make it LEGAL and SAFE!!!
Cheers!!!
