Three Western Visayan micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) beneficiaries of the Department of Science and Technology’s (DOST) Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) brought home the awards at the 2022 SETUP 4.0 Awarding Ceremonies. The event was held as part of the 2022 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) celebration at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, November 24.
Negros Prawn Producers Cooperative (NPPC) in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, wasawarded as national finalists for the SETUP PRAISE Award and the recipient of the 2022 Most Resilient Award for MSMEs.
The SETUP PRAISE Award for SME recognizes the outstanding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) that were assisted under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), one of the flagship programs of the Department of Science and Technology that empowers MSMEs to level up their operation. The award gives recognition to a SETUP adopter who has excelled in their business in terms of Productivity, Resilience, Agility, Innovativeness, Sustainability and Excellence.
Meanwhile, Filbake Food Corporation in Kalibo, Aklan was declared the 2022 iReady (Most Industry 4.0 Ready Award for MSMEs) National Awardee. Filbake Food Corporation is a food manufacturing company that supplies bakery and other food products through its local bakery brand, Bread and Butter. With the DOST SETUP assistance, it improved the company’s product quality and safety, enhanced compliance to food safety requirements, increased production volume and sales, and has provided employment opportunities. In the same category, Herbanext Laboratories, Inc. in Bago City, Negros Occidental was also awarded as a finalist.
