The Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival, the biggest and longest running provincial organic festival in the country will be be held at the Negros First CyberCentre on November 15-19, 2016. From several years of being staged at the provincial capitol grounds, exhibitors will now be in a wider location offered by Negros First CyberCentre.
With this year’s theme “Get Connected”, the festival will not only connect the organic producers to the market but also try to integrate information and communications technology (ICT) with agriculture. These two-pronged approach coincides with the Provincial Government’s aim to keep Negros Occidental as the Organic Agriculture Capital of the Philippines and to encourage more investments in IT-BMP all over the province.
The annual event gathers organic farmers, producers, retailers, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs and advocates from around Negros Island. There will be 150 exhibitors made up of small farmers, non-government organizations, people’s organization, indigenous people, agrarian beneficiary, cooperatives and private companies and advocates. Aside from the exhibits, there will also be free lectures as well as entertainment from local artists.
