Negros Occidental to Host First PNoy National Games

The First PNoy National Games on May 23 to 29 will be hosted by Negros Occidental in cooperation with the Philippine Sports Commission which is expected to spend from P15 million to P20 million for the event.

The sports included are archery, athletics, bowling, dragon boat, equestrian, fencing, football, gymnastics, judo, karate, muay, pencak silat, sailing, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, triathlon, windsurfing, wushu, wrestling and weightlifting.

Most of the games will be held at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City while other events will also be held in Talisay, Silay and Bago. After the hosting of the Azkals-Mongolia Game, the PNoy National Games will surely draw a lot of sports enthusiasts and tourists in addition to the expected 3,500 athletes, 450 coaches and 550 officials.

The recent visit of President Aquino in Bacolod City may have been a contributory factor why Negros Occidental will host the event. Hopefully, the president will also grace the PNoy National Games and he will bring with him more good news for the Negrenses.
