Museo Sang Bata Sa Negros, Sagay City

The Museo sang Bata sa Negros is located at the port area of Brgy. Old Sagay, facing Carbin Reef in the 32,000-hectare Sagay Marine Reserve. The building is aptly shaped like a whale which gives you an idea on what to expect inside.

“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” These are the quotes from Confucius which will greet those who visit the museum. The children will surely never forget the experience in this first hands-on interactive children’s museum outside Metro Manila and the first marine museum in the country.

“I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.” – Confucius

The museum has a vision to be a “premier museum that will awaken and stimulate the creative and intellectual potential of Negrense children.” This is done not only by having live specimens of marine animals but also by allowing children to hold the objects on display, enabling them to learn more about marine life.

The ground floor of the museum showcases the diverse marine life and the man-made threats that continually pose a danger to life under the sea. This is a good exposure to the kids to make them aware of their responsibilities even at their young age. A kid who realized it’s wrong to throw away garbage especially plastics to bodies of water may avoid doing it all his life.

The second floor exhibits are about the evils of smoking and life in the different Philippine islands. The exhibit materials are mostly donated by the Museo Pambata. There’s also a collection of international folk toys by Ms. Mara Montelibano and the McDonald’s Lacson toy collection of Mr. Butch Lopez.

What’s also unique with the Museo sang Bata is that they have kiddie tour guides for scheduled visits. The children visitors will surely enjoy to have kids their own age tour them around the museum.

The museum is open from 8am to 5pm from Monday to Sunday. The entrance fee is P40 for adults and P20 for students. For tour bookings and more information, you may call +6334 722-0153 or email museobata@yahoo.com.
