Campuestohan Highland Resort: Bacolod’s Family Getaway Destination

Where to go in Bacolod to have fun with your friends and family? Well, you don’t need to go far to relax, unwind, and spend time with family and friends. Just minutes away and within the boundaries of Bacolod and Talisay Cities is Campuestohan Highland Resort, a family destination offering various amenities with a picturesque view of the mountains. At 800-meter above sea level, Campuestohan enjoys a relatively cooler climate than Bacolod and Talisay Cities and it even gets colder when fog engulfs the place. It’s a perfect destination if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Campuestohan is the first resort we brought our daughter three years ago when she was just three months old. My daughter just loves the water. When we visited recently with our relatives from Iloilo, she could not contain her excitement upon seeing the swimming pool. She enjoyed swimming and playing with the other kids and only left the pool when it rained and it got too cold for me, but not without her wailing her arms in protest.

Attractions and Things To Do at Campuestohan Highland Resort

Kids have a special place at Campuestohan because there are playgrounds especially for them. They can also go horseback riding, ride the carousel or the train, or just enjoy swimming.

The kids and the kid in you will surely enjoy having a selfie with the life-sized replica of cartoon characters and superheroes. When you see your friends post their selfies on Facebook with Superman or Elvis, you can bet it’s at Campuestohan Highland Resort.

Kingkong looks at home at the foothills of Mount Silay and he looked and sounded real enough to scare my daughter. But she forgot about Kingkong after riding the mini train and playing with the other kids in the playground. There are also horses available for older kids to ride.

A lot of groups are conducting their team building at the resort. The obstacle course, sky bicycle, and cable hamster wheel are fun and exciting activities to do. For those who want more challenging activities, the 340-meter zipline will give you that adrenaline rush.

Safety at Campuestohan 

Safety is something that is often not addressed by most resort owners unless something bad happens. Fortunately, Campuestohan is serious about keeping the safety of their guests at the resort. Campuestohan has an ambulance, nurses, more than 20 life guards for pools, they have insurance, and staff are being trained on first aid quarterly.

Personally, I can say their staff are quite capable. We witnessed a sky bicycle lose its track because the guests use it to race each other, which is not advisable. The bicycle and the man were both hanging through their harnesses and those of us who were there watched with fear. But the staff successfully maneuvered the guest to safety.

More developments are underway at Campuestohan Highlands to offer more attractions and activities to visitors. A wave pool and windmill are currently being constructed. It’s good that management is continually improving the resort so that there is always something new to do.

How to Get to Campuestohan Highland Resort

Although Campuestohan is part of Talisay City, it is easier to reach from Bacolod City. Campuestohan is around 21 kilometers from Lopue’s East and the roads going there from Alangilan is 90% paved so it’s very accessible by private vehicle.

If you’re in a group it’s more convenient to rent a van from Bacolod and the going rate is P2,500 per van per day or you can just arrange for the van to pick you up the following day. The resort also has a shuttle service during weekends for only P100 for one-way trip. The shuttle service leaves Lopue’s East at 9:00am and leaves the resort at 4:00pm.

Campuestohan Highland Entrance Fees & Room Rates

If you are just visiting for the day, there are available day cottages, umbrella huts and canopy tents. Considering the different activities you can do at Campuestohan, a day would not be enough so I highly recommend you stay at least overnight.

Campuestohan Highland Resort has various room accommodations in their log cabin and single detached cottages that look like Hobbit houses and Indian tepees. Make sure that you reserve your rooms at least two weeks before your actual visit especially during peak season. There is also a restaurant with very reasonable prices if you don’t want to bring along food.
