Bacolod City has moved up from the list of the Top 10 Next Wave Cities in BPO and elevated as a Center of Excellence for Business Process Management joining the ranks with Metro Manila, Metro Cebu and Metro Clark.
Next wave cities are judged by ICTO-DOST and the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines based on a scorecard looking at talent, infrastructure, cost and business environment.
The Top 10 Next Wave Cities are Baguio City, Davao City, Dumaguete City, Iloilo City, Lipa City, Metro Bulacan, Metro Cavite, Metro Laguna, Metro Naga and Metro Rizal.
The news was happily shared by Bacolod City Councilor-elect Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue who is the Chairperson of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for ICT (BNEFIT) in her Facebook account.
Atty. Batapa-Sigue headed the Bacolod IT Focus Team created in 2004 which is now the BNEFIT. After 9 years Bacolod has achieved a lot through the cooperation of all stakeholders who were also acknowledged by the councilor.
“This award goes to each and every call center agent, technical support representative, global services worker, business process manager, IT-BPO professional – to each and every Bacolodnon and Negrense who are working to prove that Bacolod, Negros Occidental is truly a Center of Excellence in the Philippine IT-BPM industry today. I thank you and I salute you.”
With the elections behind us, our leaders will hopefully unite for a better Bacolod and Negros Occidental. Now that Bacolod was recognized as a Center of Excellence for IT-BPM and with the soon operational Negros First Cybercenter, more companies will operate not just in Bacolod but in other parts of the province to add to the 18,000 employed by the industry.
